Bring back the old glory to your home

If you are moving into a new home or looking to redecorate and you are planning on buying new furniture or doors we would recommend to skip this and stick to your old furniture and doors.

The reason for this is that the furniture that used to be made is usually of a better quality than modern furniture.

So instead of spending a fortune on new things that won’t stand the test of time why not spend a small amount on the ones you already have which are of a better quality anyway.

All it takes is some time and a little love.

The result is great furniture that you can keep in your family for years to come and preserve the ones you have been left from a loved one.

Leave us the hard work while you enjoy your refurbished furniture and doors.

We work with wood (pine, oak, elm, beech, pitch pine, walnut, satinwood), metal and cast iron.

We’ll restore your furniture, doors, bannisters, architrives, benches, shutters, fireplaces, radiators.

For your wooden items we can provide the following services:

-Caustic and non-caustic strip

-Fully cleaning and sanding

-Full finish in clear wax or clear Danish oil.

Caustic strip

We dip the doors, furniture, bannisters, window sashes, etc in a tank that is filled with caustic solution (sodium hydroxide) where they sit for 30 minutes so that the current finish can dissolve as much as possible and later they are jet washed to remove what is left over. This helps to remove most of the finish, sometimes all of it, but there are times where there is finish residue.

We prefer this method for metal items and pine since pine wood reacts the best with the caustic solution.

If the items are made from oak, elm, beech we highly recommend the non-caustic strip in order to prevent the wood from cracking and getting grey on the surface.

Non-caustic strip

The non-caustic solution is water soluble and less harsh than the caustic strip.

It is used to strip types of wood such as oak, elm beech, walnut.

It provides a safe strip without causing any damage to the wood and changing the natural colour of the wood.

Fully clean and sand

If you are planning on finishing your item with something-paint, wax, oil, varnish etc we always highly recommend to have them fully cleaned and sanded.

This will not only make sure that they are 100% clean but also make sure the wood is smooth to the touch and it will ready for finish.

This process leaves the items flawless and brand new looking.

Some people even leave the doors and furniture just sanded to give their home a more rustic look.

Full finish

Once we strip and sand the items for you we can offer 2 types of finishes: clear wax and clear Danish oil.

The wax is used to emphasize the natural colour of the wood if the wood is dark and we use clear Danish oil to emphasize the colour of the wood if it is lighter.
